Japan will ban incandescent lighting, lighting companies convert to LED

Many EU, US and Japanese lighting companies promote LED lighting products, make the LED lighting popularity just around the corner. Among them, there are Japanese five largest lighting manufacturers, including Sharp, Toshiba, NEC, Mitsubishi, and Panasonic. NEC and Mitsubishi are expected to be formally launched the LED lighting products in late September. Panasonic has even issued a household LED light bulbs: EVERLEDS, and will be available in October this year. Panasonic expect to present a monthly production plan of 50000 LED bulbs, which only accounts single digits of the proportion of revenues for the light bulb. By 2012, the proportion of LED lamp products would be increased to 25%. It will expand  Europe, the United States and Southeast Asian markets simultaneously.

Panasonic's new products, including EVERLEDS are the same with the LED bulbs in the market, It can be used just insert the LED bulb to the incandescent bulb socket, and prices are also similar, about ¥ 4000 JPY, While LED light bulbs are with higher price, but life may up to 4 million hours, based on 10 hours per day, you can use the 10-11 years, this is 40 times of the incandescent bulbs life. Electricity consumption is only 1/8 of the incandescent bulbs.

The Government of Japan announced that it will stop producing incandescent bulbs by 2012, it's expected that in the first quarter of next year which before the implementation of the energy bill, many public places will begin to adopt LED lighting. Europe, United States and other Asian regions will start to accelerate the promotion of LED light-bulbs to replace the traditional incandescent bulbs. According to the market research agency Citigroup predicts that in 2008 the global LED lighting market size about 457 million U.S. dollars, by 2015 the global LED lighting market is expected to grow up to 50 billion U.S. dollars.
