High power LED street lamps Application Analysis

In recent years, Along with the rapid development of domestic LED lighting applications, many manufacturers have introduced high-power LED street lamp, and more and more energy efficient products are used in road lighting, Does the current high-power LED street lamp can fully replace the traditional light sources (mainly high-pressure sodium lamp) ? The following are my points about the application of high-power LED street lamp:

First, regard to the energy-saving about LED street lamp, in many practical cases which high-pressure sodium lamps are replaced by LED lamps, the saving is an important factor, but the actual LED lights and unlike energy-saving too much as high-pressure sodium lamp. Compared to the luminous efficiency, the practical application of the current light-emitting efficiency for high-power LED street is (80 lm / W), which is lower than high-pressure sodium lamp (100 ~ 138 lm / W), the LED is a directional light and also lamp more efficient than high-pressure sodium lamp, but because of lower luminescence efficiency, LED street lamps integrated energy efficiency is still lower than the high-pressure sodium lamp.

In some cases that LED street lights replaced the high-pressure sodium lamp and obtain energy-saving effect, according to analysis, these cases are usually because of the original road lights with power exceeded (brightness exceeded seriously), or with low efficiency lamps, or road lighting in a serious decay state, so it's not the scientific basis that LED street lamps is energy saving.

Second, the LED street lamps color temperature. At present, high-power LED street lamps are basically used white light with color temperature of 5000K ~ 6000K, this is too cold as the road lighting source, and make hyperopic capacity declined, in some studies proved that the yellow light, or less than the 3000K warm white is more suitable for road lighting, so the daylight color LED lights are not suitable for street lamps.
